Healthy San Francisco is a program created by the city of San Francisco that makes health care services accessible and affordable for uninsured residents.  Healthy San Francisco offers a new way for San Francisco residents who do not have health insurance, to have basic and ongoing medical care.

  • Chiropractic

  • Travel immunizations
   
  • Gastric by-pass surgery and services
  • Genetic testing and counseling
  • Infertility
  • Long-term care
  • Organ transplants
  • Sexual reassignment surgery
  • Non-emergency transportation

*** Healthy San Francisco does not provide dental or vision care. There are, however, resources located throughout the San Francisco Bay Area that provide free or reduced-cost services. Range of services and costs vary depending on an individual's income and assets, and the clinic or agency's own ploicies related to free and reduced-cost care. 

Participants can get some dental services at some clinics operated by the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Additional dental and vision service locations are listed in the Dental and Vision Resource Guide. The information provided in this guide in intended as a resource only. Services are not guaranteed. Healthy San Francisco will not pay for, or reimburse the cost of dental or vision care services.

Healthy San Francisco does not provide sexual reassignment surgery. However, Participants interested in sexual reassignment surgery may seek this service through a separate program that will be offered by the San Francisco Department of Public Health in 2014. Information on the sexual reassignment surgery program can be obtained in late 2013.

Healthy San Francisco is not insurance. If you have insurance, do not drop it to join Healthy San Francisco. Insurance is always the better choice because Healthy San Francisco has limited services and places you can go to get medical care.
