Healthy San Francisco is a health coverage program created by the City of San Francisco that makes health care services accessible and affordable for uninsured residents. The program offers a new way for San Francisco residents who do not have health insurance, to have access to basic and ongoing medical care.

Healthy San Francisco is available to all San Francisco residents regardless of immigration status, employment status, or pre-existing medical conditions. The program currently provides health coverage to over 40,000 uninsured San Francisco residents.

There are some requirements to be eligible for Healthy San Francisco. You must be a San Francisco resident and have income at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Level (for one person $54,480; for a family of four $111,720 in 2013). Depending on your income, you may pay modest fees for health coverage through Healthy San Francisco.
 
Who qualifies?

Participants in Healthy San Francisco receive health care services at their Medical Home. Some services, such as vision and dental, are not covered. If Participants receive medical care outside of San Francisco for any reason, they are responsible for paying for those services. Healthy San Francisco does not pay for any coverage outside of the Healthy San Francisco network of providers or covered services.

Healthy San Francisco is not insurance. 

If you have insurance, do not drop it. Insurance is always a better choice because Healthy San Francisco has limited services and places you can go to get medical care.
